Exploring Space Through Art

  • Best ages guideline: All ages
  • Prep: Supply lit below

Join Pam and Lotus from Art History Kids for an imaginary (and creative) trip to space! In this class, we’ll get to know a sensational artist – Alma Thomas – who created a series of abstract paintings exploring the idea of space and space travel.

We’ll take a closer look at her art and chat about it together. Kids will be invited to create their own space-themed art inspired by her unique style!

Supplies:

  • Paint- whatever you have on hand (watercolor, tempera, acrylic, etc.)
  • Paintbrushes
  • A paper towel or rag
  • A cup of water to clean your brushes
  • Something to paint on- thick paper, a piece of cardboard, a canvas board (medium size- approx 8×10 inches)

note about supplies: this is an open-ended project, so chalk or oil pastels could easily be used instead of paint if your kids prefer a dry medium.
